Aurélie Condevaux is assistant professor in anthropology at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne/IREST (Institute of Research and Higher Studies on Tourism) since September 2016. She defended a doctoral thesis at the University of Aix-Marseille and at the CREDO (UMR 7308) in 2011, entitled “Polynesian performances. Local adaptations of a global “cultural-tourism formula” in New Zealand and Tonga”. She has also worked on the political issues of the patrimonialization of the Tongan lakalaka (a form of poetry sung and danced on the UNESCO ICH Representative List) and on the place of musical and choreographic practices in gift ceremonies and Intellectual property issues in Polynesia.
