Keynote on eLearning
eLearning for Heritage, Tourism, and Hospitality:
An Outline and Some Experiences
Keynote by Lorenzo Cantoni
Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) do play a major role in the experience of the travelers, as well as in the everyday operations, communication, and marketing activities of all tourism players.
ICTs can also support (heritage) tourism and hospitality providing highly flexible and timely training opportunities. Through eLearning they offer to tourism professionals and policy makers endless chances to upskill and upgrade their knowledge independently from time and space, as well as chances to network with other colleagues around the globe, and to share with them experiences, best practices and possible solutions to common issues and challenges of sustainable tourism development.
The presentation will offer an outline of such possibilities, as well as several cases of successful eLearning applications to Heritage, Tourism, and Hospitality.
Lorenzo Cantoni is full professor at USI – Università della Svizzera italiana (Lugano, Switzerland), UNESCO chair in ICT to develop and promote sustainable tourism in World Heritage Sites, and president of IFITT – International Federation for Information Technologies in Travel and Tourism.
