Dr. Mutinda is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Management at Mount Kenya University, Kenya.
He holds a Ph.D. in Tourism and Hospitality Management and a Post-doctorate in sustainable tourism development undertaken at the UNESCO Chair in ICT to develop and promote sustainable tourism in World Heritage Sites at USI (Switzerland).
He has over 15 years of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry spanning across the hotel and catering industry, tour operations, research and academia, and local and international consultancy.
Dr. Mutinda has been a lead researcher and consultant in a number of international tourism development, policy and planning projects including the development of Tourism Master Plans both at country and multi-national level.
He has published high impact research papers and articles in international peer refereed journals within the hospitality and tourism discipline.
He possesses the advantage of combining industry experience with global and local perspectives together with theory and research background.
