Telle Tuominen holds MA and M.Sc. (Econ.) degrees. She has been senior lecturer in tourism management at the Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) since 2001 after gaining years of working experience in sales and marketing, productisation and tour leading in the tour operator sector.
Her R&D interests: destination management and development (especially destination brand and the collaboration of the private and public actors at the destination); consumer behaviour of wellness tourists.
Telle Tuominen is co-author of The Routledge Handbook of Health Tourism (2017) as well as editor and co-author of the eBook How to Develop a Competitive Health and Well-being Destination (2014).
She is content manager of the ongoing projects Footprints of Defence in the Archipelago (2016 – 2019) and Productising the Finnish Lifestyle (2016 – 2018). She is a core team member of the EU financed projects Health and Well-being in Tourism Destination (2012 – 2014), and Innovation and Learning in Spa Management (2008 – 2010).
Telle Tuominen is actively involved in many tourism networks, e.g. member of the steering groups updating the strategic programme of Finnish well-being tourism as well as the regional tourism strategy of South-West Finland.
